A couple of weeks or so ago I got an e-mail message from my boss, Brian Brennan, asking if I'd cover the installation of a fuel injection system the guys at Westech were getting ready to install. To say that I was enthused would have been a lie, as I've never understood much about computers and circuit boards and doubt I ever will. That kinda stuff is way over my head. Heck, anything controlled by a little plastic box with wires hangin' out of it is a mystery to me (to me a micro chip is something that belongs in a really small cookie). But, who am I to question the boss, so gritting my teeth I passed on my best "sure thing boss" smile, and told him I'd get right on it. Who knows, this new system was called EZ-EFI and maybe, just maybe, it really is easy.
Well, much to my surprise, Fuel Air Spark Technology's new EZ-EFI system turned out to be the first truly easy carburetion to fuel injection conversion I've ever seen. Now I'm not saying that I understand the technology that actually makes it work, but after watching it be installed, set up, and run, I'd honestly say that I'm really tempted to install and use the EZ-EFI system on one of my own hot rods. Coming from a technologically challenged dimwit like me, that's sayin' a lot.
After years of being one of the leaders in aftermarket performance fuel injection systems, FAST's engineers have finally gotten around to designing a system for those of us who aren't computer geeks. This means there's no need to tune the system with a laptop computer or have vast tuning knowledge. You simply hook up a few wires, answer the basic Set-Up Wizard questions on the included hand-held display, and the system really does tune itself. The FAST EZ-EFI Self Tuning Fuel Injection System is a totally complete system including the ECU, wide-band oxygen sensor, wiring harness, fuel injectors, fuel pump kit and other assorted components, including a new FAST 4150 throttle body. The 4150-style throttle body delivers the total package approach for anyone with an existing 4150-type intake manifold, meaning that all ya need to do is replace your carb with the new TB. The throttle body is complete too, including appropriate fuel injectors and fuel rails. In addition, it works with the original carb-style linkage and is ready to accept all OEM sensors. The EZ-EFI system is a well-engineered, high-performance product that's a true plug-n-play system (no, really, take my word for it) that'll work with FAST XFI engine controllers and other major systems too.
Believe me, the EZ-EFI from FAST is the first and only system that I've ever seen that I can honestly say that I'm totally comfortable with. In fact, I'm seriously contemplating installing the system on my wife's '27 T, and if I do I'll make sure I show ya a step-by-step install to prove to ya just how easy the EZ system is.
Fuel Air Spark Technology... Fuel Air Spark Technology has recently introduced this no fear, self-tuning, carburetor to fuel injection system called EZ-EFI. The most important feature about the system: it's a pretty much fool-proof conversion. In other words, even the most technologically challenged (like yours truly) now has the ability to take advantage of the performance, drivability, and fuel savings of injection! That's right, just like those commercials on TV say, "It's so easy even a carbman can do it!"What really makes EZ-EFI so unique is all you need to do is swap your carb for the new throttle body, install some uncomplicated components, fire the car up, and answer a few easy questions using the system's Setup Wizard; no laptop tuning, the system does it itself! Lemme repeat myself-NO LAPTOP TUNING! | For the most part the basic... For the most part the basic EZ-EFI kit includes everything you'll need to get up and running in an afternoon: a throttle body, an ECU, a wiring harness (plug-n- play, by the way), a handheld interface, a few sensors, and an rpm module. What's not in the base kit (like an electric fuel pump and regulator, high-pressure fuel line, and fittings) is available in ancillary packages you can order along with the base kit. What you see here is the ECU which is the electronic control unit or the brain of the system. | This is the FAST 4150-style... This is the FAST 4150-style throttle body that will replace your carb. It bolts to the intake just like your old four-barrel and even has identical linkage so there's no hassle there. Heck, you can even retain and use your old air cleaner too. |
