The spacer is used to keep the coilover properly located relative to the rearend housing. Look closely and you'll notice that the coilover is mounted on the lowest of three mounting holes (arrows) in the axle bracket. The holes are 1 inch apart to provide different mounting positions.

With these three mounting holes choices, and the adjustability of the coilover itself, fine-tuning your ride height is simple.

The rear suspension now includes the four-link for locating the axle and controlling pinion angle, the sway bar for reduced roll, the Panhard bar (mounted at the rearend housing and the framerail) to control lateral movement, and the coilovers to control suspension movement.
