Making A Wood Buck

The buck is now taking shape, and you can stand back and visualize how it will look.

A horizontal section of wood is added between the cowl piece and the front piece at the place where the edge of the hood will be, and then the section is cut to shape.

With the passenger side done, the same work is done for the driver side.

After cutting some evenly spaced slots into another station piece, Cook uses a straightedge to find the line between the top of the cowl piece and the top of the front piece, and marks the point where they intersect on the station.

The first hood station can now be attached with blocks.

Additional horizontal sections can now be added to the nose section.

A template of the top piece was used to transfer the shape to the second horizontal section, and then the wood was cut.

To find the point on the third section, a piece of strap was bent from the top of the front piece and over the first two horizontal pieces.

With the third piece cut, the buck looked like this.
