A close look reveals the sector shaft has a corresponding wide spline. The steering box sector shaft should be in the “straight ahead” position during installation.

Also part of the complete kit is a very sanitary power steering pump bracket.

A new intermediate shaft and lower U-joint are required—they come with the complete kit.

There are a variety of fittings used on power steering pumps and gearboxes; the complete kit provides the proper length hoses with the correct ends.

Looking like it came from the factory the new steering box is in place along with the intermediate shaft and universal joint.

For cars that were not equipped with power steering it may be necessary to add two groove pulleys to the crankshaft and water pump. These are from Trans Dapt.

The pump tucks down in front of the engine—the same spot as the pumps on factory power steering cars.

Once all the hydraulic connections are made the engine can be started to check for leaks. Any air trapped in the system can be bled by slowly turning the wheel full left to full right.
