The 12 bolts that Ford used to retain the insulator to the firewall were shouldered to prevent crushing the padding. Trouble is, they’re obsolete. So Wallic made his own (background). As an alternative he suggested sleeving carriage- or truss-head bolts with tubing or spacers. View Related Article
