Owners of classic ’47-53 Chevrolet trucks can now obtain a contemporary ride, improved handling, and exciting performance by swapping out their old frame for an Art Morrison GT-Sport Chassis. It is a bolt-on proposition, with little or no fabrication required. The extra-strong chassis utilizes 2x6-inch framerails and incorporates body, bumper, and running board mounts, plus core support, front and rear suspension, and power rack-and-pinion steering. The computer-engineered AME Sport IFS incorporates heavy-duty control arms, adjustable coilover shocks, forged spindles, and an adjustable antisway bar. A reinforced 9-inch rearend housing is fitted with a performance four-bar suspension, center-mounted Panhard bar, adjustable coilovers, and an adjustable antisway bar.
Motor mounts are available for all popular Chevy V-8 engines and the chassis can be set up to accommodate any popular transmission. Options include brake and clutch pedal kits, disc brakes plus third member and axles.

The direct-fit, custom-design frame system, from Chris Alston’s Chassisworks,
is an extremely versatile engineering and construction approach. This technique enables Chassisworks to expertly prepare a sub-assembled kit or complete factory-welded frame, built precisely to your project requirements. Front hub-to-hub width, ground clearance, wheelbase, and rear frame width can each be varied independently to create a correct-fitting frame and vehicle stance for projects, including g-Machine/pro-touring muscle cars and street rods, custom street trucks, pro street classics, and more.
The heart of the direct-fit frame system is Chassisworks’ g-Street front crossmember, featuring rack-and-pinion steering and double A-arm suspension with antiroll bar. The crossmember and framerails are made from 4x2x0.120-inch wall box tube, mandrel bent on a computer-controlled tube bender for precision fit and wrinkle-free bends. One of four rear suspension configurations can be selected, each with its own list of options. A well-detailed (60 pages) Custom-Design Frame buyer’s guide is available on the Chassisworks website.
